Interview : Antti from Feiled

When and how was your band created?

I started the band in 2000-2001 with my childhood friend Henkka. We just had a good time playing and making songs.

Where is the name of the band coming from?
We tried to make up a name for the band and it was too hard for our shitty brains!=) We drank ourselfs to a near-death condition and the following morning I had the band name on my lips. I just misspelled it. On the paper it looks cool being an anagram of itself.

What musicians or artists did have a major influence in your life /  work?
Itīs constantly changing. The ones who have stayed are Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith.

What are the positive and negative aspects of being a musician in Finland?
Itīs hard to survive by only doing music and writing songs even if you have a record deal. Thereīs also too much band who sound the same. Thatīs something we try do break with the next record. Positive thing is that you have to be serious if you want to make it so the "bad fruits" wither and die away!=)

How could you define your style of music?
On the first album it was more 80īs and melancholic rock. Now it sounds like FEILED! And I mean it!=)

During the years how has your musical style changed?
A lot. Iīve tried to grow on every aspect. as a songwriter, player, singer and a human being.

How do explain these changes?
Itīs what lifeīs all about. change. You just try to do everything a little better every day!

What are topics you treat in your songs?
On the first album it was all about love.=) Now iīve been writing about religion, my father(R.I.P), My misuse of alcohol etc..  oh and LOVE!=)

What is your favorite song in your repertoire and why?
Honestly, I donīt know anymore. Maybe a new song called "delirium clouds", the lyrics are so close.

Do you actually prefer performing your music live or in a studio?
I like both. They are so different that you canīt really compare. Different energies and feelings.

During the process of making a song, what is the moment that you prefer?
Every momentīs okay if itīs peace and quiet.

A stupid question but... what is among all the songs you've been listening in your life the BEST song?
Jeff Buckleys "Lover you shouldīve come over!

What is your opinion, as a musician, regarding internet?
Itīs amazing what you can accomplish with it. The whole world is on your feet if you want to!=)

What are your projects?
Songwriting!

What "image" do you have of French music?
That thereīs a lot of electro and pop.

Is there one French song that you prefer? If so, what song is it?
Well isnīt Sade from France? =) If so, I like "smooth operator".
