Interview : Loukku from Hidria Spacefolk

 

When and how was your band created?
Back in 1999 I think. Part of the band moved in hippie-commune and started jamming and gather more players to the jam sessions. At some point Hidria Spacefolk was born.

Where is the name of the band coming from?
Its coming from Hidria, naturally.

What musicians or artists did have a major influence in your life / work?
For myself, I would say: Magma, Kingston wall, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Ravi Shankar definitly NOT Beatles.

What are the positive and negative aspects of being a musician in Finland?
Good music-scene(s), No money

How could you define your style of music?
Instrumental? Progressive? Space rock? Psychedelic? ...I dont know... Pick one.

During the years how has your musical style changed?
... Slowly we are evolving to some direction, towards unknown destination (if there is one)....

How do explain these changes?
...evolution???

What are topics you treat in your songs?
Universal love, peace and happiness....Really...SInce were instrumental band

What is your favorite song in your repertoire and why?
It chances all the time. We play the favourite song in few gigs, get bored to it and not play it all for a while. And then have a new favourite song.

Do you actually prefer performing your music live or in a studio?
Live

During the process of making a song, what is the moment that you prefer?
Jamming with friends.

A stupid question but... what is among all the songs you've been listening in your life the BEST song?
The BEST song is De Futura by Magma.

What is your opinion, as a musician, regarding internet?
It helps a lot. I dont think it really has any negative aspects. Even that the music-biz is trying to convince us so.

What are your projects ?
I have one man studio project, Mikko has Jericho Fuzz, Teemu is playing in some trip hop project, Loukku is in experimental elektro-pop band.

What "image" do you have of French music?
Vule vu... ah, sorry thats Swedish band!!!

Is there one French song that you prefer? If so, what song is it?
Je t'aime moi non plus... Of course...
